Spring time in Texas brings a lot of green. Pastures green with the Winter Wheat, time to turn the cattle out to graze. The trees are sprouting new leaves. The oak and pine tree pollen covering our cars in a neon green dust. DON'T add water to that swipe of the wipers on your windshield! You'll be sorry... just blast it off doing 65 on the highway. The car washers are making a killing this time of year.
Another thing that greens up this time of year is our state flower, the Bluebonnet. We Texans get absolute giddy over the sight of them, they make our hearts swell and our eyes water.
We are a proud people and we're even proud of our poisonous weeds. So proud that we won't mow the alley or roadsides until they have all died back and sown their seeds for next year. They are best viewed in mass as you're zooming down a back country road at 75 mph. They are such a lovely dark blue blur that they almost look purple.
Which is my second favorite color, purple.
Newly discovered to ME, but who knows how long those folks down in the Texas Hillcountry have known about Miller Creek Lavender Margarita Mix.
Yes, I said LAVENDER as in the flowers. Blanco County, Texas is prime country for growing lavender and they must have quiet a few lavender farms. Enough to squeeze those tiny flowers into a delightful mix for your tequila
I don't know if they import this, they sure don't sell it around here and we're just 4-5 hours away from Johnson City in Blanco County. If you are ever in the Hillcountry, just pick some up at a local liquor store for only about $6. It's devine!!!
That's a lot coming from me. I normally don't drink tequila or any drink containing tequila. Let's just say I had a really bad fight with Jose Cuervo, he is NOT a friend of mine. I have managed to stay away from him for about 35 years. He was evil, down right mean to me back then... he made my tummy hurt, made my head hurt, I lost sleep, a tad of my memory and a good pair of boots in San Angleo, Texas. I'm no dummy, Momma didn't raise a fool in me. When someone or something does all that to you, you just stay away from them. Trouble in a bottle.
But I'm older, and wiser, and I'll drink
I hope you have a great week, and are enjoying spring or fall where ever you are. If you see Jose, tell him I said hi!

You know that I don't do Tequila but I would try that drink.
Oh, what a great night in San Angeleo, sorry you don't remember it. Guess who is playing at Cypress Bar in April, Asleep At The Wheel. They must be old as dirt.
I visited a friend in San Antonio many years ago, and I was there during bluebonnet season - they were SO gorgeous! Vast seas of them along the roadsides. Gorgeous.
And that lavender margarita mix - it's really pretty! We don't do mixes much; we squeeze limes and so forth, but that's too beautiful to pass up.
I've been noticing lavender in so many things but this is the first time I've seen it in alcohol. It's one of my favorite flowers and scents. I love it! But, I'll just have to trust you that it tastes good. I've only eaten it in cookies so far and it was not good. lol Those Bluebonnets are beatiful! We have purple lupin flowers here and they look very similar but I have a feeling we don't have as many of those here as you have Bluebonnets there. After all, everything's bigger in Texas, right?! ;-) I like the new banner at the top of your blog. It's really pretty! Have a great week! :-)
I have really been thinking about and missing the Texas wildflowers lately. Thanks for a peek. Nothing prettier than Texas in Springtime. The drink is beautiful. Quite chic looking. Not sure I would think to mess up a good margarite with lavender, but I will take your word for it being good. Please enjoy one for me.
That looks amazing... I love the glass as well - really sets it off! The blue bonnets look a lot like the lupins that are plagueing our hills around town... Major pest and taking over all the blue berry fields. But they are oh so pretty.
Nita, I do remember some things and I think that's helped me stay away from it all these years. I'll bring a bottle next time I come.
Jayne, leave it to you to squeeze your own flowers, I'm not big on mixes either, but had no idea how to make them any other way.
A-O, it has just a subtle taste of a floral note, not too much. I was afraid it would taste like Lysol or something, but not at all. The flower on the banner was my first daisy this spring.
Sigga, that's a classic Mexican Margarita glass, came with a little sticker on the bottom that said 'made in China' lol! I love my 'mexican' stuff.
MeOL, sorry girl, I skipped you, and you were the one I was thinking would be missing the bluebonnets right about now.
That's a beautiful glass; nice presentation.
I would like to stare out over a field of those flowers drinking one of those margaritas. Lovely!
Thanks M, no guesses as to what's wrong with the presentation?
Heather, just come on over they will be here for just a few more weeks, you better hurry. But even if they are gone, I'll still have 4 more bottles of the mix... I got 6!!! Evil roar!
Mmmm. I had too much tequila on Friday night, mostly in the form of Parisien margaritas (no idea what's in them). The result was throwing up and bedridden most of Saturday, but somehow it didn't put me off it. I won't mix wine and cocktails again in a hurry though!
I'm not much for the hard liquor, but you did such a nice job of selling it! And the presentation! Sigh, sips cheap wine...
Maja, when liquor turns on me I usually stay away from it. I have learned over time how to drink, I no longer swill the stuff like I used to.
Duder, I do partake in the cheap wine more often than the hard stuff. One of my favorites was named after me "Mad Housewife" the Merlot is quiet nice.
