Weekend With The Girls part 2

Hmmmm, how much do I divulge?  You know that saying, "what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas."  Well we didn't go to Vegas, we went to downtown Houston.  Since none of us knew how to get there in the dark and Nita didn't want to have to assign one us to be the DD we'd told Judy that she'd have to drive and the poor girl stressed over it all day Friday  my awesome sister got a limo...  Yeah a stretch limo!
Sorry about the picture quality, it was taken with my iphone in the dark.  That's Judy and our driver Julian he's checking out her hottness.
What do you do when you get in a limo?  You immediately start gathering evidence!  I guess Nita wasn't quiet  dressed.  As you can see Jennifer would not have been the good choice for DD.

Judy and I.

Jen and Nita.

Just like bar hopping in the old days.  Well, not exactly.

Julian drove us to downtown Houston where all Nita's friends had told her we needed to hit bar after bar after bar.  The first bar was dead, I mean the help hadn't even arrived, so we walked down a block to the next one.

I knew this was going to be a let down when I could have sworn I saw Jeffrey yeah, my son.  No, he wasn't really there, it's just 'boys' that age all look the same.  Yeah, it was like a Jr. Bar!  We were even referred to as "cougars"!  To which Judy responded "That's right Bay-bee!" in a deep sultry voice.

Do you remember that part in the John Wayne movie The Cowboys, when two of the young cowboys ride up to the wagon of 'women' and one of the boys gets really embarrassed and kind of squeals and rides away?  Well that's almost the way this turned out.  One young man was quiet embarrassed that she'd heard him say "oooohh look, the Cougars are here!"  At least they didn't refer to us as Saber Toothed Tigers.
Back in the bus, Judy gave Julian directions to the next destination.  We were headed back to West Houston, we just weren't downtown kind of girls.

Now this was our kind of place.  Indoor dance floor AND outdoor dance floor which we preferred.

The last time Nita and I did this we were on a boat in the Virgin Islands.

This guy got around.... he and his friend loved our "moves."  That's because he wasn't even born when his momma was doing those moves on the dance floor.  Jennifer can still clear a dance floor and I promised her I'd not post any pictures evidence of her in action.  I've probably already posted too much.

We ended our evening having breakfast at I-Hop and when country comes to town and ends up at I-Hop in a limo, we take the driver in to have breakfast too.  That's just rude to leave him outside in the car.

That was just Friday night! We still had all day Saturday...

... which we just hung out at Nita's, ran around doing nothing, had lemon pie and Sock it To Me cake for breakfast, ate at Smash Burgers for lunch YUM!  Went for rides with the top down in the Miatas.  Yeah, Nita and I both have them.

We stayed at the house Saturday night Nita cooked, even YUMMIER which was just as much fun as going out, but that's all I can say about that.  It's what Cougars do when at home... we enjoy eating and hanging out at home.

The next morning Judy and I had to hit the road back to Tyler but not before an early lunch at Pappadeaux's for Cajun food.

What a wonderful way to celebrate our birthdays.  Judy's is in the first week of May and mine in the 3rd.  We are already planning for next year, maybe closer to the sea!

Hmmm, Nita's birthday is the first of November, if I remember correctly Jennifer's is in December.... we may have to do this again in the Fall!

Weekend With The Girls

It's a tradition, I never work on my birthday.  I'm usually either leaving for or coming back from Houston.  But this year my birthday fell on a Tuesday.  Yesterday in fact.

I took some personal days Thursday and Friday of last week, and drove to Tyler Thursday afternoon to pick up my good friend Judy.  We had been planning this trip for almost a year.

I had talked to her earlier in the day and reminded her to pack light.  You can't get too much in the back of a Miata.  So when I picked her up and she said "oh I just have a carry-on bag..."  I thought, this will be interesting.  It was, her bag and my carry-on would not fit in the trunk of my car together.  Thank goodness for recycling, Judy grabbed a Marshal's shopping bag and dumped all her stuff in it,  no, it wasn't glamorous but it fit and conformed to the empty space in the trunk.  And like a unprofessional blogger... I have no pictures of this part of the adventure.  Too bad, it would have been pretty funny.

Off we zoomed toward Houston, making good time despite the wet roads as we were slipping in behind a rapidly moving thunderstorm that was headed toward Louisiana.

We got to Nita's went to eat dinner at one of my favorite Mexican restaurants and made plans for the weekend.

Friday morning as Nita is giving us the run down on that day's schedule she gets a call from Jennifer.  Jennifer is a life long family friend, we have known her all of her 47-48 years, her mom still live across the street from where we grew up.  Jennifer was flying in from Odessa around 10 that morning, or so we thought.  She called to say that Continental had CANCELED her flight!  She was in a panic, and soon, Nita was too.

Enter the devoted husband.  Loving man that he is, Jennifer's husband Junior found her a flight on South West and had her in Houston later that afternoon. Let's look at pictures.

There she is!
OMG she looks great!  I haven't seen her in about 8 years... she looks exactly the same!
And she can make that same face we have so many pictures of from back when she was 5, 7, 10 and maybe even 13 years old.   Still just as crazy as always.

Next post.... what happened Friday night!
