Happy Mother's Day and happy Other's Day

I've read some really nice posts today on other blogs about moms and also nice posts about being a mom that bring back all those memories that us moms share.  Sweet babies, sleepless nights, childhood antics, teenaged traumas that are really not that bad now that I look back at them.  Now days it's sort of like any other day, where I just hope for their health and well being.   Speaking of, I never noticed that everyone in stores and businesses wishes a woman of "mother-hood years" a Happy Mother's Day, but they do.  My sister, who doesn't have children, mentioned this yesterday.  What should a childless woman say to that? "No thank you, but you go ahead."

Thank goodness the kids remember, how can they not forget, when the TV has every other commercial advertising jewelry and flowers up to the day and then on Sunday we're inundated with ads from Red Lobster. But when the hubby doesn't watch much TV guess what happens?  Yeah....   It was 1PM when he realized, probably all the Red Lobster ads started adding up.  I thanked him and later asked "did you call your mother?" He hadn't.... yet.

He's had a busy week re-designing the front landscape.  I think he's finally got it the way he wants it and now he's got muscle spasms in his low back from digging and hefting heavy bricks.  He'll pave the center with flagstone and the sides with river rocks and native low water plants. This should take care of the mud hole we had and the lack of light to the roses. Several times I came out to see how it was going he wouldn't let me help him and he was sitting in the shade in a lawn chair.  He'd say "I think this will work."  I wanted to say... "yeah, I do have some pretty good ideas from time to time, you just don't realize how much work it's going to be or you'd let me help."

On the kid front.... Jolea is freezing in CT with freeze warnings and gale force winds and Jeff moved to an apartment last night.  Empty nesters once again.

To all you moms out there, I hope your day was a good one.  To all you who were able to spend the day with your mom or call her, I hope you did so and made her day special.  And to all of you who had a mom, I hope you remember her fondly and are proud she had a hand in making you who you are today, I know I am.
