FO Friday 2/25

The finished object this week is the kitchen.  There is nothing else he could change out or replace... it's all new pretty much.   I'm the kind of person that will use something until it finally gives up and throws it's feet up in the air.  As long as it still has a little life left in it I'll make do.

We got the stove last Saturday morning.  The only problem with the old one was that the oven temp had to be adjusted down by 75 degrees in order to be correct, so to get 350 you had to set it on 275, you get it.  Oh, and the clock/timer didn't work, and the light inside had exploded long ago, and the bottom drawer would get all wonky on you if you weren't careful.  But other than that it worked fine.

The new fridge came yesterday.  We'd had the old fridge since we moved in, it was tired.  The ice/water dispenser had failed probably 10 years ago, then the ice maker croaked about 4 years ago, not to mention the condensation problem.  Last Sunday night I noticed water on the back side of the island/peninsula whatever you want to call that part of the kitchen.... it was on the living room side over there back of the stove.  The 16 year old fridge had been making condensation for a really long time, we couldn't find where it was coming from.  I'd just keep a couple of paper towels on the floor by the left front corner to absorb the water.  Sunday the water was not getting to the paper towels but seeping into a crack between the tile and the base boards and running along the slab UNDER the tile, across the kitchen, under the cabinets/island/peninsula whatever thingy and showing itself on the living room side.

Jody decided it was time.... he'd been shopping for a fridge for a few weeks.   Isn't it awesome!  So much room.   I'm still playing with the shelves, adjusting them up and down to get everything organized.
Gracie has been spending every afternoon outside this week.  She's only gotten in trouble 3 times, once for going out in the street, once for going down the alley to taunt the big dogs and to check out the carnage of stuffed animals in their yard.  I can't remember what the other reason was... it had to do with running off I'm sure.  I'm starting to feel like Jody's mom, always looking for the freakin' cat.  We have to leave the back door open so that she'll run back in if another cat shows up or an owl swoops in.  She's so camouflaged right now with everything still dead from winter.  I can't even find her to get her to come in at night.

But tonight she was ready to come it, it's sort of cold out there.  Jody had the back door open for the cat and a fire burning for me.

Have a good weekend!  I'm making cookies tomorrow... Jeff leaves for Rio Sunday.
