Que Una Semana!!!

Buenos dias! I've been out here since 5:00. Birds get up really early! For some reason Dove and Mocking birds LOVE oak trees. And since we have so many around our house we have a lot of birds roosting and therefore waking up at the crack of dawn. It was so loud out her it was almost comical. All the coo coo cooing, or as Jolea says "who cooks for you?" Then we have the psycho Mocking birds... I swear those birds are on speed or something. We also have the loud and abnoxious Blue Jays, they are the Neighborhood Watch.... I can always tell when there's a cat around. Life in the backyard would be so peaceful without the Mormon Tabernacle Blackbirds, if you have one, you have 1500. It's like they are all tuning up and no one is on the right note. And it's fledgling time for the Grackels too... their babies are worse than kids at Wal-Mart... constantly screaming for something to eat. I wish I could record these birds and all the noise they are making... it's hillarious! I guess it's because the rest of the neighborhood is still recovering from this week.

Translation of my title: What A Week!! We are flying into the last week of school at an alarming rate of speed. We have had so many things crammed into this past week I felt like an event planner.

Due to the Swine Flu drama a few weeks ago, everything we had scheduled at the beginning of the month had to either be canceled or moved to the end of the month. In this week alone we had about a dozen events going on in the cafeteria during the school day. Then last night we had our Cinco de Mayo Celebracion.

Cinco de Mayo y viente cuatro dias. Here are some photos of last night's celebration. I was 'working the crowd' and our Counselor was taking pictures.
I was happy that one of the first pictures Lori took was of my neighbors from across the street, the Tinocos. I love this family... they invite me to all their family Fiestas.
Families come to watch their children perform Mexican dances. They provide food and our staff and some parents volunteer to serve the dinner. Do you recognize the sarapes on the wall? We transformed the school cafeteria into a Mexican Cantina. Donde esta la cervesa? It's all about showing off your finest at these functions. This is Susana, one of our Teaching Assistants.
And here is what I wore... I went for a little more Cuban/Puerto Rican feel.... Check out my hair extensions! I don't know what they call these in Spanish. They are clip on pigtails in English. One of the moms made them for me. They are made of yarn and ribbon. The Latinos loved them, I got many complements, and they didnt' snatch me bald headed like I thought they would.

Maestra Sra. Vazquez y los ninos de clase primero grado, preparanden bailar. Sorry, my Spanish takes over when I've been immersed. Mrs. Vazquez and the children of the first grade class prepare to dance.

I have so many pictures to show I think I'll do another post this evening when I can see what's on my screen (the sun is fully up now), that way I won't get duplicates posted.

I'll leave you with these....
These guys just flew over.... they wouldn't even wave, and they were really close! They don't look too close in the pictures, but I could hear them talking.

I had a lot interruptions this morning, neighbors yelling at me (nice yelling, not anything bad), phone calls, Jolea has a new job (she'll tell ya'll all about it on her blog in a day or two.) The Heathers, Me Voy and Maria will be excited. Then neighbors dropping in on me.

Jody is having a so so week, he's good one day and works in the yard, then the next day he's got pain.... His carbon fiber mandolin came in so he's got that to keep him busy. He has to finish it out, it was just a shell. Jeff is down floating the River this weekend. We'll go to Garland tonight. I'll post more later.

Have a good Saturday, it's going to be a hot one here.
