From Texas with Love... if you're lucky.

My favorite color is green, just about any color of green.  Not so much Hunter Green I don't even know that guy.

Spring time in Texas brings a lot of green.  Pastures green with the Winter Wheat, time to turn the cattle out to graze.  The trees are sprouting new leaves.  The oak and pine tree pollen covering our cars in a neon green dust. DON'T add water to that swipe of the wipers on your windshield!  You'll be sorry... just blast it off doing 65 on the highway.  The car washers are making a killing this time of year.

Another thing that greens up this time of year is our state flower, the Bluebonnet.  We Texans get absolute giddy over the sight of them, they make our hearts swell and our eyes water.
We are a proud people and we're even proud of our poisonous weeds.  So proud that we won't mow the alley or roadsides until they have all died back and sown their seeds for next year.  They are best viewed in mass as you're zooming down a back country road at 75 mph.  They are such a lovely dark blue blur that they almost look purple.

Which is my second favorite color, purple.  I have to reign myself in when I shop for clothes to keep from always buying purple or green.    To celebrate the coming of spring and the end of a really rough week at school why do some people do the things they do?  I partook in a newly discovered Texas treat.
Newly discovered to ME, but who knows how long those folks down in the Texas Hillcountry have known about Miller Creek Lavender Margarita Mix.

Yes, I said LAVENDER as in the flowers.  Blanco County, Texas is prime country for growing lavender and they must have quiet a few lavender farms.  Enough to squeeze those tiny flowers into a delightful mix for your tequila or champagne as is says on the label.

I don't know if they import this, they sure don't sell it around here and we're just 4-5 hours away from Johnson City in Blanco County.  If you are ever in the Hillcountry, just pick some up at a local liquor store for only about $6.  It's devine!!!

That's a lot coming from me.  I normally don't drink tequila or any drink containing tequila.  Let's just say I had a really bad fight with Jose Cuervo, he is NOT a friend of mine.  I have managed to stay away from him for about 35 years.  He was evil, down right mean to me back then... he made my tummy hurt, made my head hurt, I lost sleep, a tad of my memory and a good pair of boots in San Angleo, Texas.  I'm no dummy, Momma didn't raise a fool in me.  When someone or something does all that to you, you just stay away from them.  Trouble in a bottle.

But I'm older, and wiser, and I'll drink barefoot in my own backyard.
Let's see how good of a bartender you are... what's wrong with this drink?

I hope you have a great week, and are enjoying spring or fall where ever you are.  If you see Jose, tell him I said hi!
