Do you see that new gadget over on the left. Yeah, that one that says Honest Scrap. That was awarded to me by Sea Heather from over at 30 and Starting Over. She said I was honest. Yeah sometimes too honest, honest to a fault. That's why I don't shop at Wal-Mart. I'm liable to tell someone.... " Sweetie, there's a mirror over there, use it, it's a three sided one...." when I really could say "Hon, you can't shop in the Junior's section anymore.... they use standard thread to sew the seams on jeans, not 80 pound test line." Or "did you pay for that hair cut? See if you can get a refund."
I'm just blunt, what can I say. And I don't think you should have to go through life biting your tongue... it would just get all gnawed up and then you'd mumble when you speak.
But there are times when I have to do as my Momma would say, "if you can't say anything nice then say nothing at all." She was such a Southern Lady. I like to say "if you can't say anything nice come sit by me." tee hee. Not really, I just walk away. I don't want you to think I'm critical all the time, I will also tell you all about my life, or what ever is on my mind. From the length of my posts, sometimes I think I'm a little too honest.
So now, after about a weeks worth of thought I need to pass the honor on to two other bloggers that I keep up with. Since I didn't find any new blogs on my clicking search the other day (aren't you all glad I wasn't enamored with the medical blogs...) it's time to pick from my blog list.
I've been reading some of you longer than I've been blogging. This award is about being honest, I think. Heather didn't really give many details on the rules, not for lack of trying, I don't think she got any from the person she got the award from. Anyway, Duder is fantastic! She's an amazing writer, I want to grow up to write like her. Then there's Godinla, he's a fantastic writer too, a little weird these days, a little dark. But he's really a nice guy. These two deserve awards, but not in the honesty category... they deserve something more.
And there's Lyvvie at Lyvvie's Limelight, she will research and write about the most interesting things in media... it's not a surprise she's going into radio broadcasting in the land down under. I love when she writes about her kids.... it brings back memories for me. She also opened me up to Bentos.
Speaking of memories, Jayne over at Barefoot Kitchen Witch blogs, quiet honestly, about her two cute kids and their antics, but mostly about her love for cooking and creating the most wonderful looking dishes. Word to the wise... don't go in there if you are hungry, you'll be gnawing on your computer screen. She deserves the Taste Buds in Constant Turmoil award.
Of course there are the blogs about people in far off places that really draw me in. Those people who plan on setting sail some day, like Travis and Maggie or Bliss living in Mexico, and of course my favorite Knitting Sailor, and I can't forget my gal pal the original Heather on Meerkat we have a connection, we just haven't figured out what it is yet.
There are so many I would award with their own specific award, but for this Honest Scrap award I just kept coming back to the two people who got this all started... Jolea. Yeah, it's her fault, way back when she started to leave home for the 2nd, maybe 3rd... no 4th time, she started blogging and kept telling me "read this, read that on my blog" and finally I did.
She's definitely my daughter. She has my honest characteristics. Don't ask her if you don't really want the truth. Sometimes you don't have to ask her, you can read it in her face, especially when she looks at someone as if to say "are you a frickin' idiot?"
But she's also the most fearless fighter for the underdog. I'll never forget last year at this time of the year when we were in the Self Check line at the grocery store. Everyone was in that frantic holiday trying to get home to their giblets and yams mood. They had jammed the self-check register computers and this overly bejeweled lady was yelling at the little attendant guy. Jolea turned to her, looked her square in the eye and said something like "wouldn't it be nice if everyone just calmed down a

That brings us to the second recipient.... the first blog that I read other than Jolea's.... Maria, aka Overboard, aka Ferrover, aka Queen of the Marble Cheese Board. She's honest.... she puts her whole life out there for all to read, review, criticize, advise and admire. She keeps you thinking, what will she do next? Where will she go next? S

She's the one who literally got me started blogging... she set up my blog and gave me the name. We email often and hope to someday meet in person. So my second award goes to Maria our favorite Brit.
I wouldn't be here if it were not for these two ladies. Now the crap is in their court and they have to pass it on...
Thank you Heather, you are so sweet. If I didn't know better, I'd swear you were from the South, you have Southern charm.
