Gracie was interested and then she changed her mind.
You know what's weird? These socks were knit from two different skeins, both from the same dye lot. Both pulled from the center of the skein, but they were wound backwards from each other.
See the color pattern, it's running the same direction, but the socks are laying toe to heel! I've never knit a pair of socks that were that off. I've had the color pattern start at the top on one sock and then a couple of inches down on the mate, or even half-way down but never toe to heel. The yarn has always been wound in the same direction.
Oh well, it makes that claim "no two are alike" all the more true.
I have a feeling that I'll have another fan of hand knit socks in September
Hope you are cool where ever you are! 20 days at or over 100F... we're on a roll!

I had knots tying the yard together TWICE in balls of yarn! GRRRRRRRR was not happy, but was able to hide the knot inside the item. I am SO hooked. Best hobby / craft thing I have found!! YAY! Haven't quite gotten to starting socks yet... Soon. After I finish the wine glass covers, make more dish rags, knit a hat for Jim, a few more scarves with this really cool lightweight yard I found etc etc etc...!
Perhaps the glass of wine had something to do with it? ;o)
Lovely and unique socks!
Terry, that's exactly what I was thinking. If I spend Saturday morning frogging Hubby always comments on my previous night's consumption.
I like the way the socks look! Hot as &$^@ here too. To hot for me to be outside so I made 2 pies today. The first one was a Oats 'n Honey Granola Pie, very good. I wasn't planing on making 2 but I cooked the pie crust before reading the recipe, craps. I had to start over, so I had to make a Lemon Meringue pie with the cooked pie shell. It is a recipe out of the book you gave me. I will let you know how it turned out tomorrow. I will give most of it away to Dr Stark.
Hey Nita, I have enough yarn to make another pair... you wanta? MMMMM lemon meringue! I haven't had that in forever. Wish you lived closer, but then we'd have to walk 15 miles a day to offset all the sweets we'd be eating. I tossed half of that peach pie I made this week because the bottom crust got too soggy and gross.
