The Final Countdown

24 hours from now I'll be sitting at DFW waiting to board a plane to Key West.  By 1:20 I should be there.  I sure hope the wind isn't blowing this bad tomorrow morning.  I may end up in Chicago.  Come to think of it I haven't seen any planes flying in this morning.  Maybe it's because it's Sunday and not the wind then again, I'm not a pilot so they may be coming in from a different direction.

BTW Happy Father's Day.  I think I only have two fathers who read my blog if there are more I sure don't know about it.  I'm surprised that Hallmark hasn't come up with a holiday for people who aren't parents.  Happy Dude's day, for that guy who has everything.... except baggage.  And Happy Wild And Crazy Chic Day, for the gal who never slowed down, who we secretly envy for her wild spirit.  And what about cards for same sex couples? Do they have those?  Maybe Hallmark has already capitalized on these and I just haven't noticed, because I very rarely buy cards.

I did buy Jody a card this year, we may title it THE LAST CARD.  He dislikes the whole idea of buying cards as well as any company that capitalizes on making people think that they NEED to buy something useless.  He has a dresser drawer so stuffed with cards from the last 30 years that we can barely open it.  WHY?  Why are we keeping them?  Yeah they're cute to look at, but they are pretty much all the same except for the hand made cards that the kids made back in Elementary School.  I'll put that on my summer to-do list for when I get back.
  • Clean out Jody's junk drawer.
Jeff called yesterday afternoon to ask me what Jody wanted for Father's Day.  "You're asking ME?"  If I knew I'd have already gone to get it.  But if he needed or wanted anything he'd have gotten it himself 2 weeks ago.  That's just what he does.  Jody is the hardest person in the world to buy for because he either has it, doesn't need it or doesn't want it.  I do know he needs a new guitar pick and it's a very special kind of pick and you can only get it at a certain guitar store and I have no idea where this store is.... so there.

But I will be making both chocolate chip cookies and Pammie Cake today.  The cookies will be carried over to the neighbor's house for a Father's Day cook-out that we're invited to minus a dozen or so left here for Jody and the cake is to hold Jody for the week while I'm gone.  The way to a man's heart is through his belly, and nothing works faster than chocolate cake.

The wind really freaks Gracie out.  She has to sit with me after she's made sure the backyard is safe from tom-cats, rabbits and baby opossums.
"Mutha, stop wif da typin'!"

Her latest vantage point for guarding the backyard.  Or she's waiting on those birds to come back for lunch.

Have a great day, and I'm sure I'll be posting some pictures from Key West next week, maybe daily!  Another for the to-do list:
  • Hand over my laptop so that Jolea can update her blog!!!!

What you need to do is begin recycling the old cards from Jody's drawer. Give them back to the kids and just have them send them all over again! Saves money and everyone wins. Kirby sometimes uses a little yellow sticky in my cards so he can use them again! :)

LOL, you're right: I think I would get along with your husband. I hate cards of all kinds. Never buy them. Hate the whole Hallmark thing and the pressure around certain holidays.
My dad was hard to buy for, too. He didn't want anything and had everything. One Christmas, when someone asked what he wanted, he said "Toilet paper". So my aunt got him some. LOL.

Duder, he made the mistake of mentioning to a friend that he thought he'd like a zero gravity lawn chair. So I jumped in my little car and zoomed over to Cabella's and got him one. Only problem, it wouldn't fit in my car. I had to call Jeff to come pick it up. Jody likes it (not outside on the deck, but in the house) but the cat likes it more.
