I'm really enjoying my NEW computer! For all the Techy people, it's an Acer???? I'm not a brand name dropper kind of girl... I will use whatever if the price is right. Whether it's computers or clothes, I don't care as long as it works well and holds up for a long time and does what I need it to do.
Yesterday was a day to go down in history, not because it was Friday the 13th, the way my days have been going for the past two weeks, yesterday was a breeze. But it will go down in history because Jody sent me a text message! Even my boss was surprised. Jody never calls me at work or texts me.... I'm at work to do my job, not talk to friends or family. I don't call or text him either, it freaks him out.... he thinks it's an emergency or there's something wrong. Besides, if we were talking and texting all day, what would we do when we got home? Stare blankly at each other? (There are days when we do that...)
So, I'm working and I hear that little tone coming from my purse (I don't even get my phone out of my purse at work!), I'm thinking who in the world is sending me a text message, probably a wrong number. I look at it and I'm surprised it's from Jody and says "Your laptop is nice. I think you will really like it!'
I'm thinking.... he's at work playing with both my new computer and his Blackberry! Wow, he even uses punctuation in his text messages.
As I drive up to the house last night he's backing into the driveway. I had a feeling he'd come home early, with this new job, I've been getting home before him. I guess he couldn't wait to show the computer to me. He's so funny.
Where everyone else at school was getting flowers, especially Judi (flowers.com... if you aren't happy with your droopy roses they will send you 54 more! Yeah, she ends up with 66 roses) My husband goes for more functional gifts. No, I never get roses, why would I? We have all those rose bushes in the yard, we grow our own. I have to buy my own jewels if I want them (and then Jolea will yell at me... it's that whole Blood Diamond thing), but Jody does supply the funds when I do my own shopping, so it's all good.
While I knitted on a sock, Jody played on the new computer, setting things up and loading my knitting software, the windows and excel programs and stuff. He kept saying things like "it's wicked fast, very bright screen, you're going to like this." It was a good 30 or 45 minutes before he ever handed it over to me. He's like a little kid sometimes.
It is nice, very fast and with a very bright screen, and it has a curved key board! I can already tell a difference with my carpal tunnel! But the best thing.... it's so light! I almost dropped it when he handed it to me, and it doesn't squish your legs. I wasn't expecting it to be so light. It fits perfectly in the bag I knitted/felted for Jolea last year! It's really lighter than my purse! Sorry Jolea, you just lost your bag.
Now for a camera, (Jolea is squeeling again...) I'll probably check out what Sam's Club has. I saw a really cute purple one the other day when I was there, maybe they have tourquois. I didn't look at it because I wasn't shopping for cameras. We put all the pictures from the Big Dell on my zip drive last night. I'll take pictures of everything once I get the new camera and software for it loaded. And Jeff is going to get me a Skype camera, that was the only downfall, this computer didn't have a built-in camera, but Jeff will take care of that.
I think Jody will be glad to have his computer back (even if it does weigh as much as a small child.) I know he'll enjoy not having my pictures in the middle of his stuff. When he goes to download pictures to show someone a new mandolin or strummer or something, there's my latest knitting project in the big middle of everything. Teee Heee.... surprise!
I better get crackin' lots to do this weekend. Nita (my sister) is coming Thursday night!!! When I told Jody she was coming on Thursday instead of Friday he said "why? I just had Chemo!" That's his new excuse now... anytime he needs an excuse for something it's "but I had chemo!" Jody, you left your socks laying in the floor.... "but I had chemo." Jody did you not realise you spilt coffee all over the countertop?.... "but I had chemo AND radiation." We're all going to start using that at school.... "but Jody had chemo!"
To be continued..... when I get a new camera.

Great post!
And ACER huh. I had an ACER. Can't wait to see pics of it.
I love my new computer, too. Like Jody, K was playing around for ages on it before he sent it. He loves stuff like that.
'Knitting on a sock' sounded funny.
Love Jody's excuses. he he he he.
That does sound funny, like a yoga posture... I have a sock on the ground and I'm standing on one foot on top of it knitting. Inhale in.... and release.
Hope I can leave Thursday, I'm not sure how I can get off if there is no one there to get blood or pull shots. I don't know why she even said anything about me leaving early. If I can't leave by 2:30 or 3:00 I will wait until Friday. I don't want to drive at night. I will have my truck packed just to be ready. I just talked to Di about the RING. OMG, I love it.
Woo hoo! Everyone's getting new laptops. I hope you really enjoy it. I looked at a couple yesterday and you're right: they're a lot lighter than the one I bought four years ago, that's for sure!
Enjoy.
What's so great about mine was I wasn't even expecting it!!!! Surprise! Last night he said we were getting new counter tops in the kitchen!
Congrats on your new computer! Have fun playing with it! I love my new camera, it's a Kodak EasyShare. :-)
I have no idea what kind of camera I'm going to shop for. I could really used some advice.
I wouldn't recommend a cannon rebel. They have too many settings and sometimes it refuses to take pics if it "thinks" its not a good one!Plus, you can only look thru the viewer, instead of the screen or viewer. I thought it was broken at first because nothing showed on the screen until you look back to see what pic you took. The picture quality is great, but you have to spend a week reading the manual to figure out all the settings! Happy shopping.
P.S.
We grow our own too! He he he
