I was wracking my brain as to how in the world the only Heather & Jim I knew of could have my mailing address. Heather & Jim are the Heather & Jim from the Meerkat... In Mexico.... Living the good life on a Catamaran.... sailing the Pacific coast. They sent me a cross. Seems the pictures of our house during Thanksgiving and Christmas made them think I could have a collection of crosses.
Jody went to Corpus Christi yesterday morning and I had to spend the night alone.... not a problem. I only woke up once thinking that he may have come home. Maybe it was the sirens that woke me. I don't remember hearing sirens, but one of the neighborhood houses two blocks away burned to the ground during the night. I haven't heard the full story on how it happened. A friend who lives across the street from the house said the flames were 20 to 25 feet in the air and the fire was so hot it burned the house next door.
Jeff went with me to Sam's Club tonight to shop for a camera and we drove past it on the way home. All that's left is the outside shell that's made of brick. All the wood parts look like charcoal. You could see they had a VW Bug in the garage. I sure hope no one was hurt. The kids used to attend our school years ago but are up in High School now. There is yellow police tape surrounding everything like they are still investigating. I can't believe I slept through that.
Like I said Jeff and I went shopping for a camera. I ran around the store picking up stuff we were low on like toilet paper and Ranch Style Beans. I think Jeff was surprised at how fast I can go through Sam's, we spent more time in the line to check out than I did shopping. I got quiet a few items and a camera and Jeff signed up for his own card as a co-member with me. He'll be buying his own gigantic toilet paper now.
I got the cutest little Kodak camera that takes both still shots and video!!! With sound!!! And it's purple with a grey leather case and all the components. My second favorite color is purple! Sorry I couldn't take a picture of the camera but, can't do everything. I tried to take a picture of the laptop but the angle at which I'm typing as I sit in the bed just wasn't very good. Just picture it in your mind.... kind of small, black, curved keyboard, shiny screen, very thin and very light. Now you know exactly what it looks like. Thank goodness for Tech-y kids. With them around who needs to read any manuals. Jeff says, "Oh don't do all that, just do this..." and with a few clickity clicks he's got things loaded and made short cuts and I'm all set up.
It's going to be a short work week for me. My boss is going out of town tomorrow for a conference so it's the perfect time for me to take some comp time. I'll be off Thursday and Friday. My sister Nita is coming in from Houston, Thursday evening (if her boss lets her leave early) or Friday morning. We have no idea what we're going to do, but I'm sure we'll have some good laughs and eat really well.
Jody called around 10 PM they were heading home. He knew they would be late coming in. I'm off to sleep now... just remember, if your neighbor has a monkey, stay away from it. I don't understand why people think they need to have a wild animal in their home. Most people don't even properly take care of their dogs and cats. What on earth would make someone want a monkey? I've seen the ones in the zoo throw nasty stuff at people !!! They will snatch you bald-headed too!
Good night!

That cross is way cool. Lucky you.
Isn't? I don't have anything like this. It's almost dia de los muertos like. I love it!
Isn't IT way cool. Sorry, it was a little early when I left that.
Nice cross, agree with you re the monkey...
Blame the address on the wayward daughter...
Glad you like it and it matches something!
Yipee on Sam's... I could use a trip to Sam's right now, but all I have is a small tienda with beer, bread, a few vegetables and 2000 bottles of hot sauce.
So how are you going to explain that gift to Jody?
ha ha ha!!!!
Cool cross. I know I'm still a little groggy, but where did the monkey comment come from?
Heather, I left the cross and your folded note on the kitchen counter last night and when he came in there was no way he didn't read it. It was laying open this morning. He doesn't care. And like someone said, I never put anything negative or bad about him in it. His mother loves reading it. And she's started emailing him, the last time she'd typed was something like 1974.
Duder, you haven't heard the story on the news about the Old Navy Chimpanzee who went nuts and attacked it's owner's neighbor, bit her face off! The owner took a butcher knife to it but the police had to shoot it in the end.
We don't have much news going on now that the elections are over, we've had to dig up some crazy monkey stories.
Whose house was it.... if the kids are at AHS, Connie and I had to have taught them in 6th..... :( Davia
Do you remember Saran and Sarayuth? They had moved back into the neighborhood about a year ago, but not in their original house. I had seen Saran last Spring as he was being kicked out of the CVS for shoplifting.
I hope they don't say it's an electrical fire.... that could make me paranoid. To think that my house could go up like that. There's nothing left! Just brick. I'm wondering how long it burned before the fire dept showed up.
That's so sad!! Is their mother still alive? I remember she was undergoing extreme cancer treatments. Davia
Yes, their mom is living in Plano.
He he he. I love your crosses.
Thanks M, Nita brought two more this weekend. Jody says it's a good way to tell if any guests are vampires.
Next time I will mail you some garlic.
Just in case.
