Gotta take that BIG step!

It's that time again.  Back to work/school.  But it's different this year.

I needed a change, at the end of the school year in June, I was past being ready to throw in the towel.  I was ready to start looking for something else to do in the 'real world'.  I was DONE with the school business.  It was time to take that step, and I was at a point when I didn't care if I landed on my feet or not.

During the summer I went as far as filling out an application for a good friend who is the manager of 4 well known ladies lingerie stores.  She'd been begging me for at least 6 years to come work with her, she'd even promised that I'd be a Manager in no time.

Two weeks before I was to start back to work at my old job as the Administrative Office Manager I turned in my letter of resignation to the district.  I'm not mean or anything, I gave them two weeks to find someone else.

15 days later I have a full time job as a Secretary in a neighboring school district and a part-time job at a store that sells pink stuff.  All I did was turn in my resume to this school district and they hunted me down!

Last week was my first week at the new school.  It was fantastic!  The office staff are great and I'm back doing a job that I did for 6 years before I was the Administrative Assistant, I'm the Registrar.  I love interacting with the parents and kids.  They come in and they are nervous and unsure because they are in a new school.  I get to make them feel at ease and welcome.

The only down side.... instead of driving two blocks yeah I should have been walking, I now drive 15 miles, one way!  Ouch!  But you wouldn't believe all the cool stores between the school and my house!

I may get over my dislike of shopping.

Wow! I admire your courage and I'm super excited for you about the new changes and that they're working out so well already. How exciting! New is so nice sometimes! I need to find courage to get back to working now that my daughter is grown. Scary! lol

Thanks ladies, my co-workers are fantastic. The principal calls me the Angel Secretary, she says I was sent from heaven. It's definitely been one of those "everything happens for a reason" moments. Yes I should have taken that big step last year, but who's to say it would have turned out this good.

Congratulations, Judith. I'm so glad that by making that one decision that was causing so much consternation that you were able to change your life so remarkably.
And I am SO impressed with all the DIY things you are doing currently.
I may have to visit you for a couple of weeks and take a "crash course". ;)

Duder, I'd love for you to come, I'd show you some DIY and then we'd run down to Austin to visit Jolea and after a few days of wine-ing and dining you'd forget what I'd taught you. It'd be fun!
