I know the feeling. I'm wondering what we should have gotten Jody's mom (I'll be headed to their house Wednesday, it's not to late to pick something up.)
I just told Jeff not to worry about it. I'm still totally excited by the Christmas gift he gave me.
While I was at the grocery store this morning, fighting my way through the crowds of kids with Dads and 20 something girls buying unnecessary balloons, cards and flowers, I started thinking about gifts and how I feel about receiving them.
Some may think I'm ungrateful. I don't need cards or flowers, they're nice to receive, but I don't NEED them. I would rather the money be spent on something that the giver needs than on me. I sure don't need jewelry, I don't wear much other than my wedding ring, Crucian hook bracelet and 5 toe rings, and sometimes I wear earrings. I'm not into diamonds and flashy jewelry. I like practical gifts, that's why Jody's going to install a new dishwasher for me next weekend.
Balloons! What a waste! If it were up to me, I'd have them outlawed. What a waste of helium. Have you ever bothered to pick up a busted balloon that you see laying on the ground like you would a piece of paper or a plastic bag? Nah, I wouldn't either, it's right up there with the nastiness of a cigarette butt or a piece of chewed gum. These things just junk up the environment.
Our house is full to the gills with stuff we don't need or use that much anymore, and I have a yarn stash that looks like a small yarn store. So I'm thinking I'm good. Thanks!
What I do like is when the kids choose to spend time with us. I'm not too old to remember those days when I was young and single and wanted to spend as much free time with my friends as I could. I also know that neither of them like coming to the town we live in. Jeff's only reason for coming here is to see us as is Jolea's, that and a stopping off place between trips and jobs.
I'm just glad they still come home, even if it's just for a short time and for food. Mom's food is always a good thing to go home to, I'm so glad my kids like my cooking, I can thank both my Momma and Jody's mom (and Grandma) for that. I could sure go for some of my Momma's jambalaya or shrimp etouffee right now.
Jeff will drop in tonight for Baby Back Ribs and Jolea will be home on the 28th for a few days. Wonder what she'll want me to cook?
Happy Mother's Day to everyone and enjoy your time with the kids, or your Mom.

Write more, thats all I have to say. Literally, it seems as though you relied
on the video to make your point. You obviously know
what youre talking about, why waste your intelligence on just posting videos to your site when you could be giving us something informative to read?
Here is my web-site - new cellulite treatment
Wrote a long comment... stuffed up on the spam blocker..
Anywho, will try again..
I loved this post - it says everything! it's time together that is worth more than the stuff...
So, you must have your daughter home with you now. Isn't it almost painful to miss a daughter? Hold her tight and enjoy each moment!
I thought I'd deleted that spam crap up there...
Oh well, we should inundate Anon with unintelligible junk.
Thanks Sigga, you are so right about the family time.
Yes Suzie, Jolea was here when I got home today. She'll be here two days before heading to Austin. I'll be heading down to see her this summer during the break. Thought about taking the train, but we'll have more fun in my car. I can't wait.
Love this post love your attitude. I would have made a good Jewish mother, I'm good at guilt. Working on that :)
Jolea at the beach is so cute!
Thanks Maja, this must have started her love of the water and the ocean. Olivia reminds me of Jolea when Jolea was her age.
