Jeff came home bearing gifts from afar.

Jeff packed light so he could load up when he got ready to come home. He had quiet a selection of scarves and hats to choose from, and offered all except the Peruvian cap with the ear flaps for my choosing. That one was for Zach who took care of the cat for two weeks. I chose the brightest woven scarves in green and turquoise for Jody's mom and I. The knitted purple scarf for Nita, it's lighter weight, you don't need much of a scarf in Houston. The thicker white scarf and cap is for Jolea.

Then he pulled out this! He had called a couple of days before he was to come home, and asked me what my favorite colors were. Green and Purple of course, anything in the green range and anything in the purple range. That leaves a pretty broad color spectrum. I also told him "just get a couple of balls of yarn, I can make a pair of socks with two balls. Don't overload your backpack, you'll have to check it!"

Too late, he was already planning on checking it and he said that he had a bunch of Soles left that he didn't want to stand in line to exchange.... he bought yarn! He's like the perfect son. He put in an order for another black knitted cap like the one I made for him a couple of years ago (that he accidentally shrunk down to child size.)

Jody isn't a scarf kind of guy and he wasn't in the market for a knitted cap either, besides he had just looked over the yarn and decided that he wanted me to use the gray yarn for a cap for him. Looks like I'll be busy this summer.

I don't know if Jeff felt bad that he didn't have anything for his Dad, or just wasn't crazy about these socks. He said they were a little big, so he gave them to Jody. Yeah, he'd worn them and they were dirty but he was still willing to give his old dad the socks off his feet. I really don't see Jody wearing these, hmmm I wonder if they will felt...

Y'all have a good week, I think I'm gona go plant some lettuce.

What a sweet son you have! And, what sweet and wonderful gifts he brought home. I'm especially impressed by the yarn. I would never imagine a son buying yarn for him mama. Wow! Have fun with it! :-)

Someday Nita and I are going to go with him, of course we'll not hang out with him unless he wants us too. We'll probably just go shopping or sit in a cantina.
