The witch family is so cool. They do the neatest things with the kids. They have the greenest thumbs too, HUGE garden, and Jayne is always cooking something, bread, cheese, 47 dozen cookies, cakes that are works of art. I wish she could be my next door neighbor
So I fired up the wood burning stove.
I knew I'd have to heat the little skillet for quiet awhile in order to cook something. We keep the red pot on the stove top with water in it to add moisture to the house.
This was going to take a lot longer than my Rachel Ray record breaking 20 minute meal.
Actually, Jody called and said he was on his way home
Oh well, I tried it again Saturday morning. Jody was about to leave for work and he stoked the fire up for me and gave me the pirate look when I said that I was going to cook something on the stove.
Here we go!
Not hot enough :( That egg white should have turned the instant that it hit the pan.
Back to technology. You have got to have plenty of time to cook on a fire or fire place.
Within minutes... it's done!
Speaking of done... one sleeve done the second started today. It's been a good knitting weekend.
I did toss a piece of bread with a slice of cheese on the stove to see what would happen. I forgot about it.... started cleaning house and found it later in the day, cold and dry, the cheese had melted a bit but dried out after the fire died out.
Y'all go check out all the yummy stuff that Jayne and her family create.

LOL! Hilarious. I'm never gonna look at the stove in Flag again and not remember this.
That's why Jody gave me the pirate look when he left that morning. Our stove is equipped with a metal sheet over the top to divert the heat out into the room, this also makes it impossible to cook on. There are other models that you can cook on, my brother has one. I think it's like K's in Flagstaff.
Some kids just saw a pic of your cat and said, 'ah ah cute'.
Seemed like a fun idea to cook on top of the wood burning stove. too bad it has that sheet of protective, heat directing, whatever it's called, metal on it. I guess it's safer that way but it ruined your fun! ;-) The dried out bread with cheese on it cracked me up. Sounds like you had a fun day. :-)
Mmmmmm egg in a hole. Yum.
I love egg in a basket. Cook one every morning on the boat.

Heather and JoJo, Jolea makes hers so hard cooked that she can literally pick it up and eat it like a piece of toast, I think that's the way they did them when she was on the boats, that way they could take them out on deck without a plate.
I love your adventures. That's terrific about the heat diversion.
When we stayed in the cabin up at Lasqueti my dad would "cook" the toast by sticking it directly onto the chimney pipe thing.
The chemicals that obviously leaked into my toast over the years are likely why I am saying "chimney pipe thing" instead of the appropriate term which I can't think of.
