I can see clearly now....

.... I had LASIK surgery Friday morning.  Although it's not quiet as clear as I would like, I can see with out my glasses.  I can read my cell phone without fumbling in the night and I can still see down the street!

I really hadn't been wearing glasses all that long and basically they were just readers,  they were transitions bifocals, but the distance part on top were barely a prescription.  Here lately I'd been looking over the top of them to see things in the distance or even people across my desk.  The up close vision was waning too and it was probably time to up the strength.  I just didn't want to have to get new glasses.  I was seriously thinking of getting contacts, but who knows if I was a candidate for that.  I just don't like wearing glasses.

Jeff had LASIK about a year and a half ago.  He told me then and then enthusiastically told me again last week that I should go talk to the Dr. B about it.

I scheduled my consultation on the internet Sunday night and went in Tuesday.  After seeing all the sports icons that have trusted this Dr. and a few other famous people.  I was told that I was a candidate for Mono vision surgery and booked for Friday morning.  6AM!!!

Friday, Jody dropped me off, went to his meeting and came back to get me around 8:20.  I went back Saturday morning to have the transparent 'bandaid' contact lenses that were protecting the laser incision removed.  WOW, what a difference!  I even drove without my glasses and I could read street signs as well as things inside my car!

But today is a little different, I have a little pain in my left eye and driving today made me nauseous.  I know it's supposed to get better every day for about a week, but I can't help but worry.

I have an appointment tomorrow at 1:45 to check what my vision is.  I hope it's back up there where it was when they took the 'bandaids' off.  That was awesome.

We shall see.

I'm so interested in this surgery but too scared to do it. I hope it works out great for you and that today was just part of the healing. Keep us posted on how it goes! :-)

I've been looking over my glasses, too. Not a good look. Hadn't even thought about lasik. Hope this does beautifully for you.

I've missed you writing lately and was wondering about you.

Well this morning at work I was feeling like I'd taken a $3000 gamble. My left eye was dripping like a faucet. Lourdes kept looking at me through the window and mouthing "don't cry..." So I left work at noon, came home, ate and went to the appt. Driving is really scary. I feel like I'm not sure if I'm seeing everything that's going on around me. But the Dr. says that I'm right on schedule and it will just continue to get better everyday, "stay out of the wind (ha! this is Texas!) don't sleep under a fan (ha, I said this is Texas!) and get used to the drippy eye." They put something in my tear duct to make it drip, it's part of the healing process, they don't want it to dry out. Believe me it's not going to. I feel like I should be drinking more water to keep from getting dehydrated I'm loosing so many tears. In 3 months I should be perfect! Oh joy, I can't wait, can someone hand me a towel?

You are braver than I, hope it all works out well and that the Doc is right and it's just a matter of time and you will have 20/20 vision again!

I'm next!

Need to have my ears and nostril hair taken care of too.

You should do it Jolea! You'd not have to buy contacts until you are about 60. Of course you'd have to come up the 3K. Maybe when we win the lottery.

Sigga, it really wasn't that scary, they give yo drugs. Nice drugs, the 'I don't care' kind.

B, who knows what they do to you while they are in there and you've suddenly gone blind and the drugs have kicked in, but I didn't have any hairs above my neck that needed attention, so I didn't notice.

That's so neat! I think it's amazing we now have this option for fixing our eyes. I hope it's all settled down and you're beating all the kids at ISpy.
