We had our usual Saturday night jam last night. 13 people (8 singers), 5 guitars, 4 or 5 mandolins, an upright bass and an electric bass. Yeah, we made a little racket and blocked a few driveways, but it was good. Judy (Fronchard Freedie's little sister) stayed over. She's from Tyler and wants to do some shopping in the area later today.
Only one more week until Spring Break!!!! I'm planing two road trips. Boy do I wish Jolea was here. Last we heard she was in the Dominican Republic. Check out the website They must have been a really big deal in DR. I'm not real sure where they will be going next.
"Jolea's Shirts" as we were referring to them at school, have been picked up by the Catholic Charities. We were unable to ship them to the DR for the crew to hand out in Haiti, as was previously planned. With their schedule being switched up because of the extended stay in Bermuda and the change in Captains, time sort of ran out and our plans had to changed too. Catholic Charities picked up all 14 boxes Wednesday and asked me where we wanted them sent. I said Haiti and Chile. The guy said "OK, that's where they will go."
Jeff drove down to Mexico City last Wednesday night. He called me at 1AM Friday morning to tell me he had made it. He and his Rally Racing crew went to watch the World Rally Race. It's pretty exciting for the boys to go watch, seeing as the races are usually held on other continents where it's out of the question for them to attend. They are supposed to be headed back home today, probably tonight. Aahhh to be young again.
I learned two new songs on the bass last night, despite having someone beside me who played way out of time. Didn't bother me.... cuz I didn't really know what I was doing. Jody is coming along really well. We are going to have to get a tape recorder. That way Jody and I can play along with the recording for practice. My instructor told me I really needed to practice.... I tried to tell him I really needed to knit and he assured me the dent in my fingers would go away and not snag my yarn. I have already decided on two summer projects and I'm eager to start them. I'm still on the look out for a Aran sweater pattern too.
Ya'll have a good week, I hear people moving about in the other end of the house. I bet it's not Judy, we put her in the cave.....

I tried to learn how to play the guitar years ago and wondered about my fingers too. I worried that the caluses would make it so I couldn't feel things. I know now that's not true because my daughter plays the harp and feels things just fine and even knits. I'm not planning on learning though because I'm a wimp...pushing the strings down on a guitar really hurts and so does playing the harp. lol I'll stick to listening and admiring all of you that can play. :-)
Yes, I think your wandering children came by it naturally. Also, the urge to do good for others. Congratulations, Mom!
You have a great week too Judy. Can´t wait til you post some videos of your bass playing!!!

You're playing the bass! That all sounds like so much fun!
Acorn, I don't practice enough to really get a callus.
Me, thanks. :)
Siga, we don't allow video cameras at our jams. tee hee.
B, are you being sarcastic? You know what they say about America? Nobody likes a smart ass. ;P
Rob, that's the first website I looked at when I decided I wanted to make an Aran sweater.
T & M, I wouldn't exactly call it playing the bass. Let's just say I make noise.
