It was cold and damp last Friday night and by the time we got there it was already dark. There were only a few people on the square. Mostly the old country guys. They are so crotchity that if you request a Bluegrass song they give you that look and pack up to leave. You know that look...
We stepped into the Generator Coffee Shop for Jody to change a broken string on Mark's mandolin and Joyce snapped this picture.

Davey and Jane headed on to OKC the next morning, still not fully knowing what all the hoopla is about in Garland. We would really like them to come back in the Spring when there are 10 or 12 groups out. It's just more fun with a lot of people.
This week is zooming by... are ya'll ready for Holloween? The neighbor's dog is!

"We've got punnishing weather headed our way." That's what the lady just said on the news. I better get to school early, we may have to open the doors before 7:30 it the sky is going to open. Oh great! we're under a Tornado watch!

Halloween - that reminds me - must buy some chocolate/sweets (candy) before the kids come knocking. No idea what they do if they don't get a treat - never risked finding out!
We have strong winds and heavy rain heading our way too for the weekend (boo hoo). But we had 17 degrees C here yesterday (that's really warm for us for the end of October - never known it before).
I love the photo of you all. Your in-laws look like characters, love the cowboy hat. And I'm taking it that you knitted your gorgeous sweater.
Great post! I hope your day goes good without any Tornados!
No I'm not ready for Halloween; loved the costume for Sassy! I always wanted to take Gauge trick or treating!
One day before I die I am going to have to visit the USofA and see this for myself. Not the big cities but the real deal. Love the dog... will need to show this to Freyja - I doubt very much if I could ever dress her in anything....
Happy Halloween and all that. OO and I hope the tornadoes stay well away from your area!
I love the look on Sassy's face and the little rider on her back. So funny and cute!
"Punishing weather"?? That sounds scary! Stay safe in the storm!
I'm just glad we got out of school today without having to go into "severe weather" mode. You know what a pain that is. Heard it will be pretty this weekend. Yea!
The dog costume is fabuous. I have never seen one like that.
Love the dog costume. Dog actually looks like dog enjoys it? Or at least doesn't mind it.
For some reason Jody having a dad named Davey is funny...
Our weather in Texas gets screwier every year... I guess we should be used to it, or at least prepare for it. We had temperature change of close to 35 degrees in 12 hours and 20 degrees of that was within a couple of hours.
Jody's parents are a hoot, they are really fun to be around and are very young at heart for being close to 80. Jody gets his humor from his mom, they are so much alike.
I'll have to post Sassy's final pick for her costume tomorrow night. I don't think this rodeo outfit will be the official costume. Elaine said she has many to choose from. Sassy is the best dog, she does whatever Elaine asks her to do. I've seen her dressed as a witch with a hat and a broom and I think she was a pirate with a eye patch one year.
Sassy looks just like chipper.
LOOK! IT'S CHRIS BURNSIDE ON A HUGE SHELTIE!
Sassy does look just like Chipper, she's little like he was.
I took the pictures especially for you to see the likeness Jolea.
