One good thing has been my new hair style. It works great in the rain, I know because I stood in it for 30 minutes this morning.
Last Thursday I went to get my 'hairs trimmed' and as usual, my hair dresser DeeDee gives me something to drink and does whatever she wants to my hair. I think I just heard someone gasp. It's really not scary at all. I've known her for 20 years and she's never done anything weird to my hair. She really knows my hair better than I do. My hair is straight as a board and grows down in my face, kind of like a sheep dogs. It won't hold a curl and is rather fine. After all these years, I'm not going to fight it anymore. I'll take a bowl cut please. Like I said, DeeDee would never give me the cut I wanted, she knows best.
Last time I was there (about 5 weeks ago) she decided we'd let my hair grow out. I had told her that Jody can't tollerate the smell of hair spray (or perfume) since his chemo and radiation. I think they got rid of all that stuff in there and now his nose works. Anyway, if he smells anything real flowery or chemically (that's one of W's words) he gets really annoyed. Together we figured to keep him from having me ride in the back of the truck she better give me a real low maintenance hair style. I don't have to put any 'product' on it anymore. And most of the time I really don't have to do anything to it in the morning other than brush it a little. No more Bed Head. It's really soft and flippy. (That's when you hairs swing side to side when you walk.)
So this time she just trimmed it a little to keep the shape and she colored it. I had decided to just let it go back to the natural color, but she had other plans. So now my grays are gone and it's a really nice dark brown (my natural color) with sort of a dark auburn undertone. It really looks good. The cut is so easy to take care of.
Do you remember that sweater I was working on around the time school started? Well I finished it. It's OK, it's just that it's linen. I really don't know why I knit with linen. It just doesn't turn out the way I want it to. It's so flat and lifeless. No spring to it. Better left for weaving and making money from. But I had the yarn in the stash so I had to use it.
I'm trying to get these socks finished by next weekend. I'll probably finish this one tonight (if I'll stay of the computer) and I could get the other done by next Friday. I started these last Thursday night. They are someone's Christmas present, these colors are classics for the person I'm knitting them for.
Let me get my foot out of the way, looks like I was wearing them for a minute.Just wanted ya'll to know we were molding here in North Texas. We can turn off the water now. The Fire Ants have taken to high ground... in our mailbox.
Have a good one, get some sun, you're looking a bit pale.

I'm totally tired of rain, too. To top if off, I heard my sprinklers come on last night. The electricty had flicked off and it resets every time that happens.
Congrats on a good hairdo. That's priceless!!!!
I know what you mean about feeling bad when there's no sun for days on end. I always joke that I'm "solar powered" cuz I need sun too! lol I could never live an area that's cloudy and gray a lot. But, with that said, I wouldn't mind a bit of rain here in So Cal. It seems like it so rarely rains around here anymore that I don't even remember what it's like or when it rained last. When a few drops do fall from the sky we all go crazy running outside to see it! lol
How nice that you have such a great hair stylist! They're hard to find!
Happy knitting! Your socks look soft and squishy! :-)
Okay, so how do we get the sunshine to No Texas and the rain to So California? I would be so happy to have rain again. We have had a nice week weather wise, it has been fallish (80 degrees), but this weekend and next week is going to be back into the 100's...ugh!
I love your socks, what yarn are you using?
Thanks ladies, this yarn is On Line Supersocke 100 in Afrika. It's sooooo soft. The pattern is from the Knit n Style June 2008 issue. It's a really simple pattern. I'll post it if you want. Hmmm should I start a knitting blog????
I feel like you and I - and by extension, our families - are family. I think I might, in a small way, love you like a sister. I don't have a sister, so maybe now I do.
Yeah Brian! And if and when I go west I'll look you up and we'll have a family reunion.
Bring it on.
We've had a good few days without any rain at all here. Amazing! Today's been lovely and sunny - I got back from a lovely walk about an hour ago. Leaves are really starting to fall off the trees though, and on the car radio on the way back I heard that today is officially the first day of Autumn. Boo hoo, I want my summer back!
Yeah I prefer summer over any other season, but I do like having a reason to wear sweaters.
I let my hairdresser mostly do what she wants as well. I never know exactly what I want, she just asks me questions and I say yes or no. It's great. They are the experts, after all.
