Yesterday we had our office party. We all draw names and exchange gifts. I made Apple Dumplings and Cristie made Taco Soup. The office atmosphere is always so hectic, we just grab a nibble of this or that when we can, but yesterday we all got to sit down together and have lunch. It was very nice. We never get to see the whole group in a relaxed setting at one time.
I thought I'd post a picture of my Apple
Dumplings for Godinla, since he's now discovered the wonders of Pillbury Crescent Rolls. As these were cooling yesterday morning, Jeff walked by and stopped to look at them. In his monotone straight to business way of speaking he said, "Crescent Rolls.....?" his head sort of nodding in approval. I agreed. He then said "what would life be without Crescent Rolls?" And he grabbed his keys and walked out the door.
So here is the, oh so simple recipe for Apple Dumplings. This will seem weird but they turn out SO good, just do it.
Apple Dumplins - serves? Just depends how many of them you can eat.
3 - 4 tart apples - peeled and sliced
2 tubes of 8 count Crescent Rolls
2 sticks of butter or Margarine (I use butter, I want Paula Dean to be proud of me...)
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/4 cup flour
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1 can Mountain Dew or Sprite
Place 2 or 3 slices of apple on each of the crescent dough triangles, roll up and place in a greased 9 X 13 inch baking dish. Cook butter, sugar, cinnamon and flour until dissolved - pour over the rolled up rolls. Pour one can of Mountain Dew or Sprite over the rolls (don't spread or mix or stir, just pour.)
Bake @ 350 degrees for 35 - 40 mintues.
That's it! This will sure to make you all cozy and warm, it's yummy hot out of the oven with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream!!!! And for you folks in the Southern Hemi.... eat it cold.
Jody only has 6 more treatments!!!!! He was given some sort of concoction to gargle with yesterday. It's supposed to sooth his throat. Wednesday he had taken the Rx to CVS, our designated pharmacy... they told him "we can't make this." He was livid to say the least. We really don't care much for CVS.... I have 'lost it' in the drive thru window many a day waiting on my Rx. They bought out Eckerd but kept the same crappy employees.... and the same crappy Eckerd standards.
Jody had the pharmacy at the Cancer Center whip up his concoction and only had to pay $20.... This isn't even a pint sized bottle.... $20 would pay for a good size bottle at another store, it wouldn't have been a Rx but it would have done a body good. Wouldn't that stuff burn going down!!!
Tomorrow is Jolea's 26th Birthday!!!! I was told by a Psychologist at a school seminar once that children don't really start thinking like adults until they are around 26 years old. I tried to look surprised, enlightened, interested... all those things. Then I walked away thinking what happened to me? Too bad I didn't get an address to send a birthday card.....
Happy Friday to you. Oh I just remembered I get to tell my co-worker that I'm her Secret Santa today.... Gotta make a run to Starbucks.... My secret Santa gave me a Pledge duster wand... she asked what I collected and I said dust.

These apple dumplings are excellent... I managed to nab the last one and I'll have it for breakfast tomorrow.
Jolea, we don't have a cousin Charlie... but tell your sister Ivana I said Hi!
I love your criptic comments to one another. The apple dumplings look interesting - I doubt I will find the crescent roll stuff here at the local shops...
Northern, that coming from the Criptic commets 101 instructor... I'm over in your blog trying to figure out what you and Olga are going on about... tee hee. Pilsbury Crescent Rolls are one of America's greatest discoveries, inventions or whatever you want to call them.
I have got to come over for dinner some time.
And dessert!
I love that your secret Santa gave you a duster wand, haha! Happy Birthday to Jolea and best wishes for Jody during his last treatments! Happy Holidays!
