Can you remember the last time Halloween fell on a Friday night? I can remember one time, Jolea was either a Junior or Senior in High School and she dressed as Pebbles (the Flintstones) in our Cave Woman costume, complete with faux stone necklace, hair bone, fur booties and a club. She looked so cute , but grown-up looking, sort of like a model Pebbles. For some reason the costume looked much shorter on her compared to when I had designed and made it for my Aerobics class costume party back when Jolea was 4 years old. (This costume has staying power.) Maybe Jolea's legs are longer than I thought. She went as Pebbles, her best friends Laurie went as a Vampire, a quiet stunning vampire, with her blond hair all curly and wild looking with her eyes all done up like something out of a Punk Rock Revlon ad. And Mary Ann dressed as an equally stunning Fairy Tale Princess. We made pictures of them on the deck, I used to keep one of those pictures on my desk at school. I wonder what happened to that picture? The last time I saw it was when they were about to re-modeled the office.... I wonder if that picture now resides on the sun visor of a school district work truck? Those girls did look quiet fetching!
I used to decorate the house too, with carved Jack-o-Lanterns and lights and music... not anymore. I think that year I handed out candy dressed in a hot pink sequin mini dress, with hot pink fishnet tights, matching shoes and a hot pink Marge Simpson wig and cat eye glasses. Don't you just love costumes? Especially the kind that you can really disguise yourself and act a fool. Very few kids from the neighborhood knew who I was that year. Their parents didn't even recognize me. Only my neighbors who live right here next to me know it's me. It's fun. But I won't be doing it this year. We quit handing out candy after dark a few years ago. The Trick-or-Treaters have gotten much older (17 -30) and they are very rude, to the point of being scary. It's pretty bad when you are told "give me all that candy" and then when you tell them and call them by name "I know you and I know where your parents live!' you still feel like you need to go out and guard your cars for the night. The main reason we don't do it anymore is, Jody doesn't want to have to bail me out of jail when I slap the crap out of some smart mouth little turd in my front yard.
So I get my "costume fix" at school. Red Ribbon (Say NO to Drugs) Week usually falls the week before Halloween. Our school has a week long event with things like a balloon launch (which I detest... for obvious reasons) and theme dressing days. This year we had dress like your hero day, crazy hat day - I wore one of Jolea's cowboy hats, and crazy sock day.... as you can see, I like to dress for the occasion. That's the beauty of working at an Elementary School, you can dress like a fool and no one even bats and eye. I'm just the crazy office lady.
I just heard that we had two earth quakes last night! One at 11:25 (2.0) and the other (3.0) a few minutes after Midnight. The epicenter was between Irving and Grand Prarie, that's just in the next county south of us! I slept right through it! That's pretty close to 6 Flags... I sure hope they check the roller coasters for cracks and loose screws. Maybe we'll have some more tremors today, wouldn't that be cool. Nah, I take it back, it would cause such a commotion... no one could get anything done, and Fridays are usually like that anyway... no one gets anything done, especially a eventful Friday like today.

So Jolea takes out the trash too? And you are "allowing" her to leave your home? Are you nuts?
I like the shirt!
I have to know where you got that shirt. I work in a middle school office. Talk about scarey...... And that's just the parents!
Happy Halloween!
yeah, this shirt gets raves... I had ordered them for all of us in the office about 5 years ago... when you only wear them 4 times a year they last. I can't remember the name of the company. I need to order more since we have more people in the office now.
Update.... Jody 3-Jolea 2
Not only did I go outside today, but I wet to chik-fil-a with Amanda, went with her to get her car inspected, rode with her to the airport, dropped her off and DROVE her car in FRIDAY HALLOWEEN TRAFFIC IN DOWNTOWN DALLAS! That day counts for two.
Also, the earthquake total is up to 8 in the past 24 hours.
And...that picture of us on halloween in high shcool is in my old bedroom up on that shelf next to the globe or something...
Perfect!
Brian, I knew you'd appreciate the shirt.. Allen is a far cry from LA, I'm sure it's really scary in the schools there. Like me online said... it's the parents. It's like you have to defuse them... every morning.
