Good News travels fast...

.... but I'm usually still the last to know about it. I learned from Jolea's blog yesterday after being home an hour that Jody only has one more treatment! He didn't even tell me when he came to the school to have me fax some papers to the HR department of the company he works for! Sometimes this guy is just a little too laid back. I would have been whooping it up if it were me. But I guess after sitting in a chair for six hours with needles poking you every few minutes and a drip line attached to your chest, pumping toxic chemicals into you, it tends to take the edge off a celebratory mood.

After I had learned of this good news and congratulated him, he went to the bedroom and took a 4 hour nap so I wasn't able to 'interrogate' him further until almost 9:00. Jolea learned from overhearing a phone conversation he was having with someone. (Yes! I have trained her well, I'll start sending her on other secret missions as soon as I obtain one of those tape recorders from the 60's and some exploding, smoking cassette tapes.... should you accept this mission...) Then all Jody had to say about it was "I'll have one more treatment in two weeks, then they will do the PET scan and shortly after that I'll start the radiation. I should be done by the end of the year." (If you will read that statement out loud without moving your lips, in a very low baritone voice you will experience exactly what I heard.) Then he went on to say "I'm not doing anymore, no matter what they say. And I'm not ever going through this again, ever, I'll just deal with whatever happens, I'll live with it." Ain't he just a big ole ray of sunshine!!!!

So... on a lighter note. Do you know what this means?

Yes it means my feet are cold, but it also means it's time for a campfire!

Jeff and one of his buddies moved the cheminea into it's winter position for me yesterday afternoon . We don't use it during the summer so we have to reposition it every now and then. I prefer for it to be right in front of where I sit during the winter, even if I have to be careful not to crack the bones in the sides of my feet when I trip over the supports.

What it really means when I fire up the cheminea is, I need to get busy knitting winter sweaters because I've been slacking all summer in the knitting department. But.... one good thing I did this past week was to teach Jolea to knit!!!! My mom and Aunt Shorty would be so proud! To pass on a family tradition like knitting, or playing a musical instrument, or woodworking, or a love of gardening, or just anything done with your hands is a great thing to pass on to another generation. Yeah she's knitting with a loom, which is something a 4 year old can do, but it's knitting (and she already plays the guitar.) And I think before she leaves for Utah she will be knitting on needles. She already has the casting off down and that's the final part of knitting. She has made several knitted caps and a pair of leg warmers in the three days since we bought the looms. I'm sure she'll post pictures on her blog today. I frogged (ripped out... get it? Ripped, ripped like a frog), I frogged a sweater that I had designed and made last year, and I'm redesigning it into something else this year. It just didn't do anything for me the first time around. I'm hoping it will this time. I'm going to have to keep an eye on my yarn though... Jolea has been eyeballing it, I think she wants to make a cap out of the left overs. I'm so proud... she's already got yarn envy and she's only been knitting 3 days!!!

Jody asked me last night if I could get Jolea set up with needles and stuff to take to Utah, of course I can! I have a miniature yarn store in the hall closet. I know he was thinking 'it will keep her out of the bars and off the streets...' he's used this comment many times when talking about my knitting with friends. But then we were watching Grey's Anatomy the other night and the Asian doctor (I don't watch it that often...) was knitting in a bar!!! Woo Hoo... I love knitting in public! But it's only cool when you use needles, not a loom. I think I'll get her some sock yarn to learn to knit on two circular needles and set her off on socks. They are difficult, but if she can make socks she could make a battleship. A knitted one that it is.

We have a busy weekend ahead and it's going to be hard to get things ready for Davey and Jane's visit on Monday, we will need to keep it quiet and low key for Jody, it's the Yucky Weekend. Jody's uncle and aunt from Oregon are in the area and they are coming up to visit them and will stay at our house. At least the food has been decided... Thanksgiving... again. Didn't we just do Thanksgiving a month ago? Aren't we having Thanksgiving next month? Are you getting the impression my bunch likes turkey?

BTW Jeff moved out last night. It was a Deja Vu moment. Just like the last time he moved out. He was just sitting in the living room chatting, only this time one of his buddies came over and the next thing we knew there was a mattress going down the hall. He threw his junk in his truck and he was gone. Not without loading up all his shot glasses and all of Jolea's. Didn't want his TV... I guess when you have that many shot glasses who can find the remote, much less watch TV.

Have a good weekend!

Believe it or not, I thought about Jody while I was putting on my pajamas tonight (please don't read anything into that crazy statement). I said a little prayer for him, which is always odd for me. Don't know why but it happened. Mysterious ways?

Woo Hoo!!!!!!!!!

Thanks God... a prayer to God from God... how cool is that? He needs prayers, he's a real stubborn guy, downright hard headed.
