The good... Jolea is a cleaning machine. She cleaned our kitchen like it was a mega yacht. My tile is sparkling, the clutter is gone (I have a serious down load area), and all those milk bottles I have collected since I was 10 years old are dusted and clean. The living room looked great too after she went through it with the Kirby in high speed. She said I'd be smoted, smited, struck down if I didn't keep my silver cross collection dust free. I really should get rid of some of my collections. I'm over them.
The bad... Jeff lost his driver's license some where in Europe. Not a good thing but with today being Columbus day, it wasn't a good day to try for a new one. With all the Government offices closed. But that brings us to the ugly....
I walked to work this morning, afraid it may rain and I didn't want the Pink (bike) out in the rain, I left my car at home. I walked home this afternoon and as I got closer to the house I noticed Jody come out to sit down on the bench by the front door. Then I saw Jeff walk out and they were talking. By this time I was close enough to our yard to see that something was very wrong with my car. Then Jeffrey saw me... I think he was trying to leave to take the car to the body shop before I got home... he didn't want me to see it.
Jeff had driven my car over to McKinney to get his license replaced. While waiting to leave a parking lot, he was waiting behind a very large pick-up truck... probably one of those jacked up 4-wheeled drive kind. The guy couldn't get out of the parking lot in one direction because of the traffic so he decided to back up and re-position himself to go the other direction. Yeah... it was ugly... he couldn't see my Mazda Miata behind him and backed up... way up... on top of the hood of my car!!!! So now my car has this snarled look on it's sweet little face. Jeff was just sick. He said the guy in the truck was even more so. He gave Jeff his insurance info and Jeff went directly to the insurance office. They are going to repair my car, the guys insurance will pay for all damages completely and I'll have a rental while my car is in the shop.... I wonder if they'll give me a rag top? Well... I can ask, it's what I had! We'll go back over there tomorrow to get the rental, Jeff left the Miata at the body shop tonight. I wonder how they will feel when I turn the rental in with only 5 miles on it? Just because I have a different car doesn't mean I'll quit riding my bike.
Poor Jeffrey... he had just driven 6 weeks through 15 countries, on the wrong side of the road without insurance and a driver's license without a hitch... comes home and in 48 hours gets run over by a truck. Oh well.... it could have been so much worse and everything happens for a reason. I think I was needing a new radiator and my left fender had a really bad sun burn. Now it will look like new!!!!

Sorry to hear about the car. That kind of stuff happens to me. I tried so hard to do the right thing, like what Jeff seems to do, and I'd still screw up. Like when I borrowed my mum's wellies, rubber farming boot kind of things, to walk the dog and she said, 'no, you'll break them' and I was like, 'how can I break rubber boots', 'okay then, but be careful.'
I came home with boots ripped to shreds from having had to clamber over a barbed wire fence with my mum's 12 stone rottweiler after a horse had chased us across a field.
So I feel for Jeff today.
I wondered whose that cross collection was. Thought it was pirate booty Jolea had found on her diving trips.
:)
I love your stories, the good, the bad and the ugly. Always a good read.
I have crappy luck like that too, that's why I don't borrow anything from anyone. I won't drive other people's cars either. Scares me. When I was about 17 I was babysitting and the Mom told me to take the kids down to the Burger place... We were broadsided by a lady driving without her lights on! One of the little girls had to have stitches in her head! I quit baby sitting after that.
I quit baby sitting because I got baby shit on my hand. I know I would rather have dog shit on me. Sorry aboout the car
I should have it back next Tuesday.
Poor Jeff he must have been scared shitless when that behemoth backed over the top of your car, and then double shitless to have to tell you about it. At least the driver was apologetic and had insurance.
Can Jolea come clean my house too?
Oh Lyvvie, I know... that's scary to think of that bumper just coming eye level at you! Everyone was surprised that I wasn't upset about the car, no crying or anything.. it's just a car. And as we were standing there looking at it a Care Flight Helicopter went over our house and I pointed at it and told Jeff, "it could have been SO much worse!"
Yes Lyvvie, Jolea will be right over to do your house, she's really good at organizing your pantry and kitchen.
That's awful, poor guy... Those big trucks should be banned, I mean how often do they go off road... having said that and realising that you live in Texas those cars are probably a real necessity for those folk that have to cart around big animals and the like... nevertheless you found the bright side to the story so all is well with the world.
I just cracked up when I read "Poor Jeffrey... he had just driven 6 weeks through 15 countries, on the wrong side of the road without insurance and a driver's license without a hitch..." oh... haha.... without a hitch... if you only knew! :)
I wish she'd tell me what she means by that... he probably got a speeding ticket on the Autoban.
