I almost forgot...

... got a note from my cousin Becky, well it's really from her husband Phillip.... the cousins who live in Galveston....

Just another update.
We were able to return to island Wednesday stayed the night working to clean up best we could in a limited time. Looks like we got ~3 feet of water in the garage and 6-8 inches in the house. Most everything in garage was lost as well as everything down low in house (furniture, etc.) Got ~10 inches in my truck, its a goner. Staying with a friend off the island for now. We have registered with FEMA and have been approved for direct bill hotel (not sure if we can find a hotel near the island though!). We have been gaining access to the island with NOAA government ID's. Becky will go the the lab to try to assist others and I will do the same or continue our clean-up. Insurance claims have been started. My office is back up and running (off island) and will return to work on Monday. Sure there is more but all for now.

Philip

At least they can get on island, I know that's a good feeling that the house is still standing. Remember... their house sits just blocks from the sea wall.

The aftermath is being better documented by bloggers, yourself included, than the mass media is doing, in my humble, early wake-up opinion.
Check out the latest from www.leewinters.blogspot.com

Woo hoo.

p.s I like how your blogroll looks. Gonna try and do the same with mine, so that the latest moves to the top.

I like that roll up too. That way I don't keep going back to the one I have read and they havent' had time to update in awhile... I did that while you were vacationing... which made you on the bottom a lot.... NO COMMENT...

Just popping in to say I've shut down me blog. Evil roar. It was getting too much for me to juggle along with the emotional rollercoaster I am with this thing called love. I'm okay. Just taking a break because there was quite a bit of pressure there to keep blogging for those who had been reading for years and well, I need a break. I'll be reading your blog and commenting still though. You have been warned.

I understand M, the blog is partly to blame for me only knitting one sweater this summer. And I find myself checking it numerous times a day. It does become obsessive. Keep in touch.

He he he he. Only knitting one sweater!
Too funny.
Keep in touch!
Cam on! You betcha!
EVERY DAY.
You guys still have blogs so I'll become your Worst Nightmare.
Evil roar.
I'll leave comments that ask heaps of questions.
Hate that kind of comment.
Tee hee.

I followed a link to your blog from a comment you left on mine. The first post I see is this one with an update from Hurricane Ike. I just wanted to say thanks for blogging about it. I keep wondering how Galveston/Houston/Texas is doing. I know there hasn't been much media coverage, just as there was zip coverage on Hurricane Gustav which damaged my area pretty darn well.

Thanks for stopping by my blog, as well. Your blog is just lovely. :)

Jenn, what's your blog? I hate it when I've been sleepwalking and have no recollection of where I've been.

Stop by anytime you are in the need of idle chit chat about nothing. And Thank you!
