If you don't live in Texas then you are totally unaware that today is opening day of Dove Season. As the sun comes up the guns begin blasting. Mother Nature is such a B-I-.... big headed woman... after dozens and dozens of years of 'dove season' she has now helped her little winged friends learn to hang out in town! The high line wires, tree tops and fence tops are lined with doves. They are just sitting there minding their own business listening to the shotguns wale. Wonder what the hunters are shooting at? Maybe grackles! Many men take vacations to spend this day up at the crack of dawn, crouched in a field at the edge of town waiting for a bird to fly over, just so they can get a whiff of gunpowder. I'm not against hunting... I used to go dove hunting with my Dad all the time. I just don't like to eat dove. They're nasty. People try to make them taste better by wrapping them in bacon and throwing them on the grill... what a waste of bacon.
Lyvvie from the Obento blog had a very good question the other day. It wasn't the first time I'd heard this question, in fact I had asked Jody this question when we first found out the cancer was located in his tonsils and adenoids. She asked "does this mean he will have his tonsils and adenoids removed when treatment is over?" The answer that Jody gave me, because he had asked his Oncologist was, "NO!" The tonsils and adenoids did exactly what they were supposed to do... they trapped the cancer cells and localized them for the body to begin fighting back. If the tonsils and adenoids had not been there the cancer would have likely moved to another part of the body and may have been harder to treat. So the T's and A's will remain intact.
So here we are again... wondering if procedures that are sometimes recommend are really all that necessary. Jeff always had major allergies as a child and would sound like a walrus when he slept. That child could snore louder than any old man. But our Pediatrician back in Tomball, Tx told me "God never put anything in the human body it didn't need...." I really liked her, she had done her medical internship on the Navajo reservation in NewMexico. Brought a lot of Native American wisdom to her practice. Thank God Jody never went to that many doctors as a child, because when we were growing up, removal of tonsils was the medical "thing to do."
And now what you have all been waiting for.... I've got my call in to the Star and the National Inquirer... the Chupacabra next door. They have got to get him something to pass the time with, he ate a slide off the swing-set this morning.
Have a good week. Jody goes for the 'Up yours shot" tomorrow... we're calling it that because it ups your white cells. It's really called Neulasta. (That spelling probably isn't correct.) We're just checking off the days and keeping the Chocolate Ice Cream in stock.
Just 2 more days till Sissy comes home.... if Gustav doesn't get in her way. Maybe she really is a Hurricane magnet.

Yep, that's a Chupacabra alright. Scares the crap out of me along with all the Mexicans...
Jody said the chupacabra was going to be a problem... he tried to eat the slide all night... Wonder what he'll try to eat when he's done with the slide?
Hahahahahhahha. The slide!!!
Just an update. Jeff still snores like an abominable snore man.... poor Zach wears ear plugs to sleep. Im so glad Jill gave them a room.... that chupacabra is cute.
I know you will make friends with the Chupa when you get here. I've saved some leftover Fajhita meat for you to entice him over to the good side.
