We in the office have always felt like we pay through the nose for our weekends, by living through the Fridays. Where most people hate Mondays, we think Mondays are great. They are calm, because everyone is tired from living it up on the weekend. Fridays are what we dread. The whole week builds up to a Friday.
If anything is going to go wrong it will go wrong on Friday. And today was one of those days. It started with my changing tops 5 times, then I went to get in the car and it was POURing rain. Where's my umbrella.... at school, with 4 pocket size packs that fold out to full raincoats! I run out and jump in the Miata... need I say more, it's a rag-top... we have dripping! So now my white shorts and light blue t-shirt, not only have rain drop spots but I can feel a large patch of dampness on my left butt cheek, because the dripping water always pools in my seat! I had to go to the bank, more rain, just on my left side, when I go through the ATM drive through. Then with a wet butt and the makings for a wet t-shirt contest, I stopped at the grocery store to pick up a fruit tray and juice for a meeting I was hosting plus I picked up my regular Friday Starbucks (that's my reward for making it to Friday - and it kick starts me for the day), then I stopped in at Best Little Bakery for some Kolachis (that will get Jolea's attention). Mind you all the while I'm running in and out of these places getting wetter all the time. Thank goodness for the hair spray my sister left me in St. T. That stuff turns your hair into helmet head. So I just looked like a stiff drowned rat opposed to the regular drowned rat.
Now off to school and it's only 6:30! I'm making good time. To keep from getting any wetter than I already am I decide to back my car right up to the front door to unload. Yeah, all you co-workers... I drive on the sidewalk, watch out! I take all my personal items in first, using my electronic key in the side pocket of my purse to open the door. I don't even take it out, just swipe my purse in front of the reader. I go into the office and take out my key chain to unlock my office. I then set my purse and coffee down on my desk and go back out to get the food for the meeting.
As I'm closing the door of my car with all my shopping bags, I look at the closed and locked front door and think, great... this is a Lucy moment. Why you ask..... is this a Lucy moment. Where are my keys???? In my purse and hanging in the doorknob of my office... doh! So here I am at 6:35 standing in front of the school with my car parked on the sidewalk banging on the front door for Joseph our custodian and ONLY other person in the building at the time. Some of you guys know how Joseph is, he's so calm and doesn't get jumpy or upset about anything. I know he was probably in the cafeteria and calmly thought, "Is someone banging on the door? Now who could be banging on the door at this time of morning? I guess I'll go see, maybe I'll just peek around the corner... oh I should have known... it's just Judith, Haha - she's locked herself out... what a Lucy!" Well, it really wasn't a full blow Lucy moment, not like it could have been if I were locked out of the house. All I need is a springboard and a really long pole....
It's not over yet folks.... After putting my bags in the office, I go to park my car, in a designated parking space, I have more rainwater in the seat, bigger spot on the butt. Then as I run back across the parking lot to the school because it's still pouring, I run through a puddle that's about 3 inches deep. Do you know what happens when you go through deep water in Birkenstocks? They become little pools of water custom made for your feet. The water just stays in that reservoir Birkenstocks like to refer as the footbed. They are made of cork after all so I'm squishing and squirting for a good 15 minutes. By 8 I was completely dry, no squishing, no wet spots, just crispy hair and the meeting went off without a hitch. All is well and another Friday down the tubes.
In other news, Hubby had his 2nd treatment, 2 down 6 to go! He had to see a cardiologist this morning, at 10, something about his heart has some kind of backwards squirt. I don't think the valve closes all the way when it beats. I'll have to ask him what they said. He's napping, and he's not real talkative when he's been in a doctor's office for 6 hours. He must have been starving because he called me on the way home from the Cancer Center. He was at Chipotle and wanted to get my order, which I said as he held the phone over the sneeze guard for the girl to hear and make my Burrito Bowl. I love not having to cook on Friday night. Now if I just had some wine.
The best thing about Friday and getting through all the good bad and ugly parts of the day is the day always ends on a good note, my boss, 'Ethel' and I always have our talk and get everything off our chest and discuss what we can do to make the day better. On top of that, the next day is Saturday! If you are looking for me in the morning I'll be out on the deck at dawn reading Lessons from a Third Grade Dropout by Dr. Rick Rigsby.
Have a great weekend!

Jody might have a Mitral Valve Prolapse like me. I talked to Jolea today and she told me what Jeff is fixing to do.
HAS HE BEEN SMOKING MY CRACK
No Jody doesn't have that, I already asked. It's called something else.
I try not to think about Jeff, Mark will hire him back b/c they will be really busy in about a month. But he may not get paid as well.
Don't worry, look at all the stuff Jolea has done and she is ok. He just needs to watch where he puts his money if he is taking alot. One of our clinits just got back from there and she checked her bag, they got her jewerly, which was stupid on her part for packing it.
Yeah that's one thing about our kids, they have a pretty good head on their shoulders, and they come from a REALLY lucky family.
Hi! sounds like hubby has a leaky valve? I had an aortic valve replaced about 10 years ago and no problems since, so don`t worry its quite common and very successfull!!! I am now 65 and still going strong I believe that they now replace valves without opening the chest cavity or the heart by inserting the new valve down a catheta inserted in the artery and opening it up on the site of the old valve (which now stays opens fully and stays that way) Ask the doc when you see him! Mine was discovered six years before it was operated on so plenty of time to make up my mind :o)) I also believe that it may only take a couple of days before all is OK (with the new system) as opposed to a bit more with the old "cut and shut system"
Yeah I think that's what it is but it's not really anything to worry about. It's the cancer we're dealing with now. This will have to wait.
