90 MPH on the Down Hill Side

That's how I feel right now. I go back to work August 3rd! OMG! I can't breathe! I can't even remember all the things I had planned on doing this summer...

Oh well, I guess those things weren't that important after all. I know I accomplished something. Nita's socks are done, CRAPS.... Nita don't look! The real surprise is in wearing them, so I guess it's OK. Heather's are done too and I just need her to email me a mailing address and they'll be on their way to Ventura. The pinks and purples just scream Mexico Sunset over the ocean. I hope she enjoys them as much as I've enjoyed reading about their Mexican adventure.

I did some hunting and gathering yesterday. Who'd known you can find gynormous buttons in the curtain section at Hobby Lobby. These suckers are huge and will be perfect for Jane's Christmas present. I'll start on Davey's today, I'm just going to take a wild guess on what size. I also found an idea for a gift for my brother.... (insert an evil roar here.) No Mikey, you are not getting socks... something else even more useless. That is if I can get my hands on the pattern, I'll have to cruise the internet.

Jody is in a pacing mode... trying to weigh the options of having too many job offers. He's been bombarded, and that's a REAL GOOD thing. I know he'll do what's best for us, I just hope he does what's best for him.

Just like Jolea doing what's best for her, if you haven't heard or read (her blog) she's left the cushy dreamboat. The 82' sailboat that is (that guy isn't so cushy or dreamy and he may still be lurking out there.) She's made the big step to getting her Captain's License, in St. Thomas! I think it's a good decision. It will be an interesting big step but at least it's a step in the direction of advancement in her life. Even though every time the phone rings we know she'll be asking what we're doing and our reply will be the same "knitting and playing the mandolin," and her reply when we ask her what she's doing will be "walking down the road." To that we add "in what town?" Keeps life interesting. I can't wait for her to write her memoirs.

Maybe when Sissy gets to STT, she can round up a water treatment job for Bubba... then both the kids will be living an above average life.

Have a good one!

Your daughter has an amazing adventure of a life. Love to hear about it.

Tell Jody not to get too snobby over all of his job offers. Good for him! That's a nice place to be.

Socks are gorgeous. I would say that you've been pretty productive.

M, it's hard to believe 6 weeks is almost over. And it's hard to believe you didn't make your way out here while I was sitting on the deck.

MeOL, I'm not knocking the abundance of job offers and neither is he, it just makes it hard to decide. I am feeling pretty good about the socks, it usually takes me about a year to knit one pair.

You do that, b/c these babies are nice, a little short for me but I can make them work if I have too.

Summer holidays are always too short, I am so looking forward to actually getting some next year! Glad that Jolea is moving on to Cap status, always a good move to move on - just ask me and Maria, we seem to be good at it.
Did I tell you - it snowed in the mountains here last night... not nice - it should still be summer! and now at midnight it is almost dark outside.. boo hoo winter...
